World Cat Day 2010

HAPPY WORLD CAT DAY TO ALL OUR FRIENDS!

Today is an impawtant day for cats, all over the werld ~ ‘cos it’s a day for celebrating just how wonderful cats are!  Here’s some interesting CAT FACTS:

• A cat lover is called an ailurophile

• A litter of kittens is called a kindle, and a group of cats is called a clowder

• Cats are the only animals that purr. They can purr at around 26 cycles per second, which is the same frequency as an idling diesel engine

• A cat’s nose pad is as unique as a human fingerprint. No two nose prints are identical

• One way a cat shows he trusts you, is by rolling over on his/her back

• A cat’s sense of smell is about 14 times stronger than a human’s

• If your cat is near you, and his tail is quivering, this is the greatest expression of love your cat can give you.   If his tail starts thrashing, her mood has changed …. time to distance yourself 

• Cats knead with their paws when they are happy

• Cats love to chew on grass, catnip, parsley or sage

• “Sociable” cats will follow you from room to room to monitor your activities throughout the day!

• Cats can see in colour but they are partially colour blind ~ they have the equivalent of human red/green colour blindness
