Hai Efurrybuddy!
Today we are ALL going YELLOW in support of LIVESTRONG in their fight to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Mom prepared this post in advance, which is just as well ‘cos she hadta have surgery on her arm this week and it is painful, and in a sling, which makes it hard for her to type. We will be visiting yoo all over the next few days, to see yoor wonderful yellow posts and comment, and thank yoo for yoor support ~ but we may not be able to post much until mom is feeling better. We hope you understand. Mom is sad ‘cos it couldn’t have happened at a worse time as she wants to visit yoo all.
Please visit our LIVESTRONG page and support us officially (if yoo haven’t done that already)
and please visit our noo We LIVESTRONG Today blog (created by Ann at Zoolatry) which you can all contribute to!
LIVESTRONG is a cause dear to our hearts, because not only has our own fambly been affected by cancer, but judging by the comments we have received over the last few weeks, many of yoor lives or those yoo love, have been affected by cancer too. And some of yoo reading this will sadly have cancer in their fambly right now, even as we meow. Cancer stinks an’ it needs to be kicked in the butt!
This ”going yellow on yoor blog“ event is dedicated to Vic at Zoolatry (who is currently fighting cancer) and all humans and animals who are currently fighting cancer, have fought cancer and SURVIVED, or who have lost their brave battle. This includes Mom who is a cancer survivor, first diagnosed with CHONDROSARCOMA (a rare type of primary bone cancer) in 1995; she had her latest bone surgery in 2009. And Dad who had surgery for skin cancer earlier this year. It also includes Dad’s lovely mother who died of pancreatic cancer, Mom’s beloved father who died of prostrate cancer ~ and Mom’s two best friends who died of cancer (one of liver, one of Malignant Melanoma). And Mom’s uncle who is currently terminally ill with prostrate cancer, also Mom and Dad’s daughter-in-law’s father who has prostrate cancer. Mom also lost her first ever beloved cat Confucious, to Feline Leukemia ~ and we would particulary like to mention our blogging friends Maxdog and Sniffie (and other beloved blogging friends ~ we hesitated to list yoo all in case we accidentally missed anybuddy off the list) who recently went to the Bridge because of cancer.
Mom also asked us to make a very special reference to all her dear friends from the CHONDROSARCOMA support group who are currently fighting cancer or are survivors. And importantly she wants to remember and honour those in the group who sadly have lost their lives to this terrible disease; there are too many names to list out ~ but she will never forget any of yoo. You each have a place in her heart.

BUT it is important to remember that people and pets can and do SURVIVE cancer (we never spell it with a big C as we don’t want to give it power) ~ mom has many friends and aquantainces who have had cancer and still live healthy, happy and fulfilled lives, decades later ~ and we know of beloved pets that have survived cancer too and gone onto to live a full life span. With this in mind we would like anyone who is a cancer SURVIVOR, or hoo knows a cancer SURVIVOR to mention it in the comments below.
Our message is FOCUS, NEVER give up HOPE, Have a FIGHTING attitude, have COURAGE and if yoo are fighting cancer, know we ALL SUPPORT yoo. Let’s LIVESTRONG together! We believe in the POWER of the PURR!
Ways yoo can help:
-
Go YELLOW to help raise awareness, by WEARING YELLOW, or turning yoor blog YELLOW today or during October!
-
Or donate via the LIVESTRONG website (there are lots of giving options).
-
Attend a LIVESTRONG EVENT in yoor area.
-

-
Make a purchase from the LIVESTRONG online store (or a store near yoo selling LIVESTRONG items)
-
Wear yoor LIVESTRONG wrist band wiv pride.
-
Say a PURRayer for Vic at Zoolatry and ALL the other hoomans and animals fighting cancer.
Ferst, we are sending special healing purrs to Poppy ( Vic at Zoolatry) hoo is currently fighting cancer ~ and LOVE to the entire Zoolatry fambly, and every other hooman, cat, dog or animal hoo is fighting cancer or has a loved one with cancer.
Below: The Zoolatry grandbeans and Maggy and Zoey:

I thought I had to go pink for October for cancer awareness? There are just too many colors so I will have to support them all with my usual colorful self!
You guys look fantastic in your yellow for LiveStrong!
Fabulous, fabulous post.. I am so glad that you are survivors of the dreaded cancer and pray with all my heart that our dear friends fighting right now are survivors too. Mum was one of the lucky ones, grandad wasn’t. Mum lost two cousins in their 50′s and many other family and friends. We must all have hope and courage and most of all never give in.. You have done a fabulous thing in starting this LiveStrong.. I hope we do you justice.. Get well.. With thanks and love Carol, Barrie and GJ xx
Fantastic post, guys, wonderfully done. Kudos to Mom Jan for all the work in getting this started and carrying it through. And to Linda and Ann and Chandra for all that they’ve done–we’re quite sure it’s been a huge undertaking.
We will be yellow tomorrow for LIVESTRONG, of course. Our human knows a number of people who have had or currently have cancer, including her dad (melanoma on his nose!), his second ex-wife (skin cancer), her first cousin Laurie (breast cancer), a third cousin (also breast cancer), her childhood best friend’s mom, and various acquaintances, friends of friends. Tonight she found out that a good friend of her own mom’s was diagnosed with breast cancer today.
It seems that this disease touches us all, in one way or another.
We send purrs and healing Light and universal Blessings to All Beings.
And extra purrs to your mom, Jan, for a speedy recovery and healing from her surgery!
I’m working on my Livestrong post now.
So sorry to hear about your mom’s arm surgery. My mom is still in a sling and that’s why I haven’t been visiting too much.

I am yellow today! But when I went to Cats of Wildcat Woods to add to Mr Linky, it’s not up yet, so I’ll go back soon.
Hope your mummy feels better soon. Like Huffle, we went to Cats of Wildcat Woods to add to Mr Linky but it’s still not up yet. We’re half way round the world from all of you and can’t figure out if you’re still in yesterday or tomorrow!
Our Linky is up and running – I will list blogs on it as I see their post is up. Sorry you could not put it on yours but hopefully others will do it too.
What a great post, Milo, Alfie, and your mum and dad! We will be yellow- not quite Saturday here. A young man where our mom works recently went through cancer treatments and is back at work – he is a survivor. We especially think of him now. Our doggy bro is a survivor too.
Purrs from us for your mum to be healed up soon.

Hooray for a wonderful and successful LIVESTRONG day! I am proud to wear my yellow hoodie for such a great cause. One day, I know we will have a cure!
What an awesome post! We hope you don’t mind but we’d like to put a link in our post to direct people here….
And we’ll pop over to do the McLinky thing. Purrs to your Mom, we hope her arm feels better soon!!
Your post is wonderful and going by all the other yellow blogs I see out there, the event you have organized is a huge success. We are very sorry for your family’s losses, and pray that your Mom and Dad will continue as survivors of cancer. My Dad had surgery for skin cancer on his ear nearly 3 years ago, as well as radiation. He is doing fine now. We know quite a few other survivors, so though our family has lost loved ones, there are also happy, success stories. LIVESTRONG!
Please thank your mum for all her time and commitment to Livestrong – she has done an amazing job.
We hope her arm will be less ouchie soon and she will feel better.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
That is one wonderful post Milo and Alfie. We want to thank your Mom so much for doing so much work to make this day such a big success and so far, it is a huge success. Everyone seems to have gone yellows which is great. Our Mom has cancer and is a survivor for four years so far. And she is going to make it, that is for sure. She couldn’t possibly leave us.
Your poor Mom having to have surgery on her arm. We hope she will feel better soon. No fun being hurt. Take care and Happy Livestrong day.
Marg,
We have tried several times to leave a comment on yoor wonderful LiveStrong post today ~ and it won’t let us. We’ll try again later or e-mail you.
Hi Milo & Alfie!
We are yellow for Livestrong day! Mommy’s mom and grandma are both cancer survivors (from leiomyeosarcoma and breast cancer, respectively), and others in the family have died of various cancers (lung, stomach/intestinal, esophageal). We also lost our Skylar and Lydia to cancer.
Our post is at http://pdxpride.blogspot.com/2010/10/go-yellow-for-livestrong-day.html
Milo and Alfie, thank you for bringing this all together! Together…united…there isn’t anything we can’t do! We can beat this terrible disease. We purr for all of those we have lost and for all of those who still are fighting this terrible disease. LIVESTRONG!!

A mellow-yellow-hellow again to the Meowin’ Marshalls:
it’s the Z-Girls here, writing on behalf of Poppy Vic… who
signed in and left a comment not once, but twice. And
not once, but twice… it disappeared. So we are here to
post his comment for him:
“Dear Ms Jan & FurFambly… I am kickin’ butt… fur sure,
each and every day! Thanks, and XXOO, Poppy Vic”
Wonderful job on this post and in organizing it all – you Mom is a real trooper doing this with her arm out of commission. Sending loving purrs and healing light to her and all who are dealing with cancer today.
Lots of kitty cuddles from us both to you two and your Mummy and Daddy. We think that this event is a great idea and we are proud to be taking part and Mummy is honouring everyone she knows who have had to deal with cancer in their lives.
Oh, dear, we thought we left a comment last night but we evidently fell asleep first.
We want to thank you for being a catalyst among the blogs. And we’re very glad your mom is a SURVIVOR!

A big THANK YOU for all your work. My post is dedicated to Faith and Autumn, 2 beautiful little girls, who went OTRB due to cancer and to Gramma and Grandpa, who we lost to that insidious disease.
Hope your Mom’s arm is better soon.
What an inspiring post and thank you for working so hard to make this day happen. We have been blown away by all the bloggers who have participated.
Such a beautiful post, it brought tears to the mom’s eyes here.
Together we all show our support in making cancer awareness today. Too many lives have been lost. Hopefully some day cancer will be something of the past never to worry about again.
Sorry you mum is all hurty. Most important thing for her is to get better and continue to LiveStrong.
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!
Blessings to you and all of your family. It’s a journey we either walk or walk along side with someone we know. Trusting the journey and believing there will be a cure is what we must continue to fight for.
10 year breast cancer survivor and friend/family to several who fought hard and now wait for us and to several who are trusting their journey here.
Shelly
You did such a wonderful job organizing this. What a lovely post. We’re so glad your family has survived!!
We made our way over here the long way … but we arrived. We did a lot of walking and talking today about LiveStrong. And we wanted to thank you for the VeryImportantPart you played in making this VerySpecialEvent happen. Your post is amazingly beautiful. And moving. And now we need to quit pawing out this comment, ’cause Moma can’t see through the tears anymore to help us with the words.
Together. LiveStrong.
Jake and Fergi
Well done, you rounded up the crew and together gave cancer a big kick in the butt! Bravo to your Mom!!!=^Y^=
Oh no! We left a comment on Friday night before we went to bed because we knew we couldn’t do any visiting on Saturday but it has disappeared. (It was your first comment).
This is a fantastic post and you have done yourselves proud! You have put a lot of work into it and it shows.
Although our mum’s parents lost their brave battles, mum has several friends who have beaten the evil disease, and we hope that very soon everybody will be survivors, or better still that a widespread immunisation programme can be discovered and developed to eradicate it forever.
[...] and LoveStrong…. again better late than never October 4, 2010 // 0 Milo and Alfie wrote a lovely post for LiveStrong. So many of you in the CB world were very organised and wrote posts to pay tribute [...]
